ImmunoStar, Inc. is a private corporation that manufactures and sells a variety of immunohistochemical polyclonal and monoclonal primary antibodies for the neuroscience researcher.

The primary histochemical product line for ImmunoStar was purchased from DiaSorin, Inc. in 2001. DiaSorin, formally known as IncStar, is a leading medical diagnostic corporation focused on the sale, development and manufacturing of clinical in-vitro diagnostic products. The “Research Use Only” immunohistochemical product line did not fit the growing clinical market focus of DiaSorin and as a result was sold to ImmunoStar.

Immunohistochemical products are utilized in the detection of a wide variety of biological markers, including markers related to Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s abnormalities, epilepsy and brain seizures, schizophrenia, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and Huntington’s disease. In addition, the products are used in research with opiate receptors that have the potential to improve treatments for conditions ranging from alcoholism to rheumatoid arthritis.

ImmunoStar’s customer base includes researchers from major universities, hospitals, corporations and other institutions in the U.S. and worldwide. The immunohistochemical products are sold directly as well as through an international network of over 20 distributors. Twenty-five percent of the products are sold internationally.
